🎬 AI in Action:
Runway: Using Gen-2, I transformed text prompts into compelling visual sequences. A $15/mo subscription and additional credits during the Gen:48 competition allowed me to curate enough content for the video. With the ability to extend clips by 4 seconds, I was able to generate enough content to suit the storyline and pacing.
ChatGPT: With the free plan (v3.5), I collaborated with ChatGPT to craft the 1-minute voiceover script in David Attenborough's style.
ElevenLabs: Daniel, a voice with "British," "deep," and "broadcaster" qualities, brought the script to life for free on my first try! It’s great to see ElevenLabs collaborating with talent to license their voices, and working to build fair, innovative and equitable compensation models.
🎬 Post-Production Symphony:
Epidemic Sound: A $9.99 plan from Epidemic Sound provided all audio elements, eliminating the need for additional sources and libraries. Music stems made it easy to craft the perfect arrangement with the song Paradigm Shift by Gavin Luke.
Pro Tools: The "Cycle" soundtrack, a symphony of 77 audio tracks, was edited and mastered in Pro Tools, delivering a seamless blend of voice, music, sound effects, and ambient sounds. Audio design was the most manual process with sound and music needing to be sourced, spotted, edited, mixed, and mastered to match visuals.
Final Cut Pro: Generative clips were edited into a rough cut for sound editing, and a final edit with complete soundtrack, titles, and credits.
AI Opportunities Ahead:
👂 Hear what we see 👀 - Speed up audio design times by generating clips where we hear what we see, like hearing thunder when we see lightning. This will also result in more videos being ready to share when compared to videos with no sound.
Single A/V platform - Provide a one-stop shop for storytelling with text, images, sound, and videos, reducing time to produce a ready to share video, and consolidating subscription costs.
